Stimulating the (international) growth of Flemish small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) is one of the key goals of the Flemish Government's "Pact 2020". The Flemish Government aims to unlock the potential of high-growth SMEs and create opportunities where knowledge and experience can be shared.

In the context of the "Gazellesprong", an initiative of Enterprise Flanders (Agentschap Ondernemen), 8 partner organizations were selected to inform, train and make SMEs aware of their various growth opportunities. Throughout the course of the program, the partner organizations: iMinds, VOKA, Unizo, Agoria, Antwerp Management School, Innotek, SPK and BAN Vlaanderen will organize various activities and events such as the Gazelle Talks.

Additionally, the "opportunity assessment" is one of the tools used to discover viable growth opportunities and draft a concrete action plan. Using a standardized framework (designed by Hasselt University and Antwerp Management School), experienced business consultants facilitate the process and assist the SMEs to identify opportunities through focussed dialogues with various stakeholders within the SME. The process consists of 4 steps: Intake with the consultant to discuss the approach of the program and mutual expectations Quick scan through on-line survey SWOT analysis through targeted discussions with multiple stakeholders Conclusions and Action Plan containing concrete next steps

The academical model allows focus and assists in defining the priorities and taking informed decisions. The result is a tailor-made action plan to encourage accelerated growth.

The "opportunity assessment" is subsidized at 75% by the KMO-Portefeuille (click here for more information). In case of a positive evaluation, additional support can be given during the execution of the action plan.
