Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Agenda Alexander De Croo has been nominated for the Startup Nations Award for National Policy Leadership.
This year, the four finalists for the National Policy Leadership Award, presented by the Global Entrepreneurship Network, come from four different countries (Argentina, Colombia, Belgium and Vietnam) and three different continents.
The award recognizes individuals who champion broad and large-scale efforts that have a positive impact on a national ecosystem through a variety of initiatives ranging from ecosystem building initiatives to tax incentives to make investing more appealing.
Alexander De Croo is nominated based on contributions in strengthening the Belgian digital ecosystem.
Alexander De Croo, currently Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Agenda and a former entrepreneur, is nominated based on his significant contributions in strengthening the Belgian digital ecosystem.
He led the design and implementation of policy levers across various areas, including education in digital skills as way to make entrepreneurs key drivers of Belgium’s digital revolution. De Croo also made significant contributions in the areas of tax incentives for investors and notably, he led the approval of the federal Open Data Strategy.
The Startup Nations Award for National Policy Leadership is one of three Startup Nations Awards (Local Policy Leadership, National Policy Leadership, Groundbreaking Policy Thinking) that will be presented at the Startup Nations Summit on Tuesday, November 21, in Tallinn, Estonia.
