Israel is a high-tech powerhouse, and that is no coincidence: when it comes to VC-money, it is the second-best place in the world after Silicon Valley. Israel's venture capital and incubator industry plays an important role in the booming high-tech ‘Silicon Wadi’-region, roughly the 100 km stretch from Tel Aviv to Haifa.

According to the Israel tech scale-ups report 2016, € 3,4 billion was invested in high-tech scale-ups in the country last year, across 233 investments. Israeli scale-ups collectively raise € 282 million on average per month. IVC, the Israeli Research Center, reports that in 2015, proceeds from Israeli startup exits exceeded € 9 billion.

Our week-long mission to Israel focuses on Tel Aviv and Haifa, and includes - amongst other things - the following highlights:

  • A visit to the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion), the oldest university in Israel. The ‘Stanford of the Middle East’ encompasses 19 academic departments, 60 research centers and 12 affiliated teaching hospitals. Technion boasts 565 faculty members and has produced several Nobel Laureates. The institute is often seen as one of the important factors behind the growth of Israel’s high-tech industry and innovation, in a similar role as Stanford and Berkeley in Silicon Valley.

  • Tel Aviv, the financial center and the tech hub of Israel, boasts a population of 432,892 people, making it Israel’s second-largest city. Tel Aviv stands for top technological talent, the highest venture capital investments per capita and multinational centres for industry leaders such as Amazon, Google, Yahoo, Facebook, EMC, Microsoft, GM, Amdocs, SAP, Applied Materials, Facebook, Orange, Cisco Israel etc.

  • Attendance of the Tel Aviv Cities Summit, an open forum bringing together entrepreneurs, urban planners, visionaries and high-tech industry leaders to discuss the pressing issues that are challenging cities globally. The different tracks address topics like smart cities and startup cities.

  • Participation in the Digital Life Design (DLD) innovation festival, Israel’s international high-tech gathering that features hundreds of startups, VC’s, angel investors and leading multinationals. The DLD festival presents a unique opportunity to be immersed in the latest innovation trends, to be inspired and to network. The festival takes place at Tel Aviv’s unique Hatachana ‘train station’-complex. This site was developed and rejuvenated as one of the city’s most charming spots.

DLD Innovation Festival will welcome +1000 attendees, are you joining us?

The mission’s program foresees ample networking opportunities with key Israeli ecosystem players such as investors, scale-ups, and potential partners and customers.
