Ceo Felix Van de Maele of the Belgian big data specialist Collibra has been elected as ‘ICT Personality of the Year’ during the Data News Awards in Brussels last Thursday. The award for ICT Personality of the Year is awarded by the editorial team of Data News.
The ICT Personality of the Year was chosen from a longlist of thirty leading figures in the Belgian ICT space. The candidate must be a Belgian or at least someone who has lived in Belgium for quite some time. The editorial team of Data News decided to grant the title to ceo Felix Van de Maele, co-founder and current CEO of Collibra, a Belgian bigdata scale-up founded in 2008.
Collibra employs a total of 200 people and has offices in New York, Belgium, France, Poland and the UK. In the beginning of this year, it closed a VC round with US investors totaling $50 million. The round was led by Iconiq Capital, the investment fund that includes Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Twitter boss Jack Dorsey and LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman.
Felix Van de Maele follows prominent figures such as Jonas Dhaenens (Combell / Intelligent), Jurgen Ingels (then Clear2Pay / Smartfin / Eggsplore), Dries Buytaert (Drupal / Acquia), Eric Van Zele (then Barco), Sophie Vandebroeck (then Xerox), Jan Valcke (then Vasco) and Jo Cornu (ex-Alcatel).
