The prestigious US investment fund Iconiq Ventures invests another 40 million dollars in the Brussels big data company Collibra, according to Sky News. Collibra is now valued at 325 million.

Iconiq is a previous investor in Collibra (together with Dawn Capita, Index Ventures and Newion Investments). It led the company’s C round of 50 million dollars in January.

Big names from Silicon Valley are involved in Iconiq Ventures, such as Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), Jack Dorsey (Twitter) and Reid Hoffman (LinkedIn). The fund already pumped money into Uber, Flipkart and The Honest Company, an 'ethical' e-commerce site of Hollywood actress Jessica Alba.

Collibra designs software that helps companies to process and secure big data. The company is a spin-off of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and has offices in Belgium, the United Kingdom, Poland and in the United States (New York), where the headquarters are also located. There are currently about 240 people for the company, seventy of which are in Brussels. 120 new employees will be added there as soon as possible.

Collibra's client portfolio was originally for banks and financial institutions, but in the meantime airlines, pharmaceutical companies, retailers and universities are also finding their way to the company.
