Startups.be has announced the shortlist of companies for the first annual Tech Startup Day Awards. Winners will be selected by the community, who will have the chance to support their favorites by submitting their vote until February 17th, 2016.

On a mission to strengthen Belgium’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and providing a unified voice for entrepreneurs, Startups.be has worked with a professional jury to identify, recognize and nominate the movers and shakers of the national entrepreneurship movement.

Members of the jury include:

Omar Mohout (Software Engineering ICT at Sirris, Béatrice De Mahieu (General Manager Virtuology Academy, Co-Founder Pimento Map, Investor Internet Attitude), Simon Alexandre (General Manager and Partner at The Faktory, Belinvest S.A), Frederik Tibau (Journalist / Editorial Coordinator at DataNews) and Jean Zurstrassen (Investor at Neteven).

After a careful consideration of a series of criteria (tech environment, scalable, revenue & venture capital, innovativeness, etc.) the jury nominated 5 startups for each of the following categories:

  • Startup of the Year: Menu Next Door, Playpass, Ticto, Teamleader, Andaman7
  • Scale up of the Year: Take Eat Easy, Collibra, Edebex, Awingu and Trendminer
  • Student Startup of the Year: NoteCampus, Sharepaths, EVAPP, Cr3do, Eventigrate
  • Disruptive Innovation of the Year: Foodpairing, Datacamp, Restore, iBeezi, E-peas

Individuals, businesses, and organizations can submit their vote online to support their favorite startups until February 17th, Noon CET. Winners will be announced on February 18th at the Egg Brussels, during Tech Startup Day.

The Brussels-based event is expected to attract over 750 attendees and will offer a unique convergence of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship across multiple keynote presentations, testimonials and unparalleled networking.

Confirmed speakers include: Alexander De Croo (Deputy Prime Minister for Open VLD and Minister of Development Cooperation, Digital Agenda), Karen Boers (Managing Director at Startups.be), Jeroen De Wit (CEO at Teamleader), Thibault Lougnon (CEO at TextMaster), Georges Caron (Co-founder at Keemotion), David Dab (Chief Innovation Officer at ING) among many others. The 2016 Tech Startup Day Awards are proudly presented in partnership with EY and Pulse Foundation, and with the support of key partners including SurveyAnyplace, UKTI and Datanews.
