Three of Belgium’s most exciting and innovative start-ups crowned winners at this year’s UK Digital Pitching Competition.

Three Belgian startups wishing to expand their businesses in the UK have won the opportunity to meet potential partners and venture capitalists in London after impressing a panel of UK-based tech experts and investors at this year’s UK Digital Pitching Competition – held for the first time as part of Startups.be’s Tech Startups Day.

Meet the winners:

- Best Innovation: Octinion - a global leader in agricultural robotics.

- Best Pitch: eRowz – who build algorithms to bring to light the best bargains online, collecting second-hand offers from around the world in one place.

- Best Overall: Yields.io – a fintech company who have developed an AI platform for model risk management.

These three winners fought off fierce competition from others and faced tough questions from the panel: Thomas Depuydt, co-founder and Managing Partner of Smartfin Ventures; George Henry, formerly of Index Ventures and now a partner at seed stage London venture capital firm Local Globe; Stefano Tresca – founding member of Level39 and now Managing Partner of both iSeed and StartupHome; Rose Lewis who is the co-founder of leading UK accelerator Collider and Ruz Chishty of Thirdround Ventures, who is an expert in business development, crowd funding and international expansion.

The winners will receive an exciting prize package including business class membership of the Belgian Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in London and use of their co-working office space as well as a video marketing workshop with Storyme in London.

Access to theUK market is of strategic importance for Yields.io

In total more than 30 companies applied and eight were shortlisted to pitch their ideas. Jos Gheeradyn, CEO of Yields.io said the following after the event:
