For its seventh edition, Belgium’s leading startup conference Tech Startup Day is being revamped and changes its name into ‘The Big Squeeze’. Powered by Startups.be and Scale-Ups.eu, the one-day inspiration and networking conference positions itself as Belgium’s key event on time squeezing for startups, scale-ups, investors and corporates.

Scheduled for February 28th in the Egg in Brussels, The Big Squeeze brings all the key players in the Belgian startup and scale-up ecosystem to the heart of the European capital, where participants can mingle with people ranging from tech entrepreneurs to corporate decision makers, investors and public sector officials in an informal and fun manner. The event is expected to attract more than 1.200 attendees.

“Startups.be is very proud of how Tech Startup Day became the reference meeting point for startups, industry players and the public sector in the last few years. As we’re approaching the seventh edition, our collaboration with Scale-Ups.eu gives us the perfect excuse to embrace a change in format and in name. As from now, TSD will be called ‘The Big Squeeze’ and we’re excited for scale-ups to play a bigger role and to tackle topics that are crucial in helping startups to become scale-ups”, says Karen Boers, Managing Director of Startups.be.

The full-day program puts a strong focus on 5 key scaling themes: raising capital, going international, finding the right talent, building scalable companies and maximizing sales, as these challenges present themselves in every company no matter the size. The Big Squeeze features 4 key activities that put time squeezing into action: CEO Inspiration Sessions, a revamped Startup & Scale-up Showcase Village, Dedicated Matchmaking sessions and a Speed Pitching track.

During the CEO Inspiration Sessions, a total of 25 CEOs will speak about their personal experiences and insights on key scaling topics – from raising capital to expanding internationally. Confirmed speakers already include Bart Baeck (Software AG), Hans Constandt (Ontoforce), Daan De Wever (Destiny), Bruno Lowagie (iText), Anthony Shaikh (Admos), Sharham Sharif (Lindacare), Wouter Uten (Ugentec), Aelbrecht Van Damme (Winwinner), Matthew Van Niekerk (SettleMint) and Zhong Xu (POSIOS/Deliverect).

The Startup & Scale-up Showcase Village will put the spotlight on 50+ companies that are active in different sectors and specialize in different technologies. From data management to financial reporting, it offers a great opportunity for attendees to discover the latest cutting-edge novelties in the Belgian tech ecosystem.

Dynamic tech startups & scale-ups will also be invited for exclusive corporate matchmaking sessions to explain how their solutions can solve company-specific innovation challenges. They will also have the opportunity to meet with a total of 10 investors during the Speed Pitching track and give a quick 3-minute pitch to each.

“Time squeezing is at the heart of what we do at Scale-Ups.eu and The Big Squeeze is a perfect example of this. There is no better way to squeeze time for entrepreneurs, other than to bring key players together under one roof to discuss with each other, to exchange ideas with each other and to start collaborations with each other. This will be our first joint event with Startups.be and we’re excited to put our time squeezing philosophy into action.”, adds Jurgen Ingels, Founder of Scale-Ups.eu.
