The Walloon public investment fund W.IN.G (Wallonia Investment & Growth) just celebrated its first anniversary. Here’s the latest from Wallonia and Brussels, courtesy of Regional IT.
Launched to provide seed funding to digital(-oriented) Walloon startups, the fund has received close to 300 hundred application files.
A quick geographically scan reveals that most of the applicants come from the province of Walloon Brabant, followed by the Liège province, but also that a few applications originate in Luxembourg or… in the province of Flemish Brabant!
Digital BW: a new startup accelerator comes to life
After Liège and the Hainaut area, a third Walloon startup accelerator program has been officially launched. Covering the Brabant area, it will provide coaching and support services to digital and new economy startups.
As far as its program and activities are concerned, Digital BW largely draws its inspiration from what LeanSquare has been experiencing in Liège.
Human Waves: neurotech for health and top-level sport
Gosselies-based Human Waves was born out of ULB and UMons research projects. The spin-off specializes in the collection, analysis and utilization of cerebral activity signals.
Human Waves’ software help optimize sportsmen/-women performance and solve various neurological disorders, such ADHD (attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder), attention deficiency, obsessive compulsive disorders, depression or even addictions.
Various top-level sport clubs or stakeholders have already adopted their solutions: Jacques Borlée European Sport Academy, tennis club Primerose, basketball club Spirous (Charleroi), ULB Sport…
