The Jacobs Startup Competition (JSC) is an annual English-speaking event organized and hosted by students of the Jacobs University Bremen.
As a rule, ten startups from all over the world are invited to present their ideas at the final event in March. JSC offers a forum in which various start-ups can present their ideas to a jury consisting of successful entrepreneurs. Already in the past, some outstanding ideas were found, which made it into the Forbes "30 under 30 Europe" list and the "100 Young Visionary Leaders" list of the Real Leader Magazine.
Our program is divided into three phases.
The first phase is about informing as many people as possible about JSC and reaching as many applicants as possible. Each potential start-up has the opportunity to realize its own business idea or to develop it further. Our JSC team motivates the various start-ups to apply and informs them about the application process through articles, videos and blog entries on social media platforms such as Facebook.
After successful application for the competition, phase two for the selected startups begins. In phase two, the start-ups present their ideas and suggestions to experienced mentors from the business and/or consulting sector. This individual mentoring gives the start-ups the opportunity to further improve their ideas and make them ready for the market.
The third and final phase of the Jacobs Startup Competition is the final event on the campus of Jacobs University Bremen. At the final event, the selected startups work on their ideas with their mentors within two days and then present their final pitches at the end. The event is ideal for networking. Among other things, the best startups will receive cash prizes, which can offer them a stepping stone into the market. Furthermore, the participants can use the range, won by the Event, for themselves, in order to let their own start-up grow faster.
